Taylor Swift vs The Weeknd: Comparison

people at concert

Taylor Swift has finally passed The Weeknd (Abel) in monthly listeners on music platform Spotify, to gain number one in the world. But how?

Taylor has been on The Weeknds heels for months, however after she re-released her recording of album 1989 Taylor’s Version, she has passed him. Spotify has estimated a number of 106,879,578 monthly listeners for the number 1 spot, while The Weeknd has an estimate of 104,580,914 monthly listeners.

Taylors Swift’s music has reached most of the world, being very popular in countries like: USA, UK, Australia, Brazil and Canada. However, she is less popular in some European countries like France, Italy and Germany. On the other hand, The Weeknd is mostly listened to in England, the USA and Brazil. This information shows us that the artists are both played in the same areas.

Taylor has reached the number one spot 13 times, which is an odd coincidence, since everything in her life has been based on the number 13. But what about Abel? Well, he has 7 number one hits including songs like: Blinding Lights, Save your Tears and The Hills.

You would expect The Weeknd to be upset about being put back to number two, surprisingly he wasn’t. In fact, he took it really well posting a message of congratulations for the singer.
